Job Summary
Medical Assistant I in Endocrinology provides direct patient care under supervision, performing rooming tasks (vital signs, med reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, health screenings such as depression, suicide risk, falls, social drivers of health), assisting with procedures, and performing lab-related duties (venipuncture, specimen labeling, packing, lab orders/requisitions, results tracking) with POCT per standing orders. Responsible for CLIA-waived tests and department-specific diagnostic testing, administering medications and vaccines safely, and performing related duties (refills, insurance authorizations, scheduling, referrals). Cross-trained to support the specialty clinic, communicates effectively with patients, families, and colleagues, maintains a clean, stocked work environment, and provides age-appropriate care per department standards. Required licensure/certification (BLS) and CMA/RMA credentials from recognized certifying organizations; GED or HS equivalency; completion of an approved Medical Assistant program. Experience not required; 1 year preferred. This role is full-time with weekend/shift considerations and includes a sign-on bonus eligibility in the department’s total rewards package.
Required Qualifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (AHA)
- CMA from AAMA or CCMA from NHA or NCMA from NCCT or RMA from AMT or other recognized CMA/RMA/NHCA/NCMSMA/NRMA/NAHP/NHCWA nurse-credentialing bodies
- GED or HS Equivalency Diploma
- Completion of an accredited or approved Medical Assistant program
