Job Summary
Assist orthopedic physicians with general nursing duties, including suture/staple removal, wound care, and dressing changes. Perform medication preparation, apply sterile fields, and remove casts and splints. Locate imaging and test results for appointments, then schedule MRIs, lab work, and surgeries. Prepare exam rooms, restock supplies, and power up computers. Verify pre-op labs, schedule surgery clearances, and complete disability, return-to-work, and insurance forms. Communicate with patients regarding appointments, reminders, and test results while providing education and handouts. Escort patients to exam rooms and travel locally to satellite offices as needed.
Required Qualifications
- HS/GED
- ROT or CCMA certification required by first 90 days of employment
- Minimum one-year full-time clinical experience in healthcare
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, TOC physicians and staff
- Ability to work under pressure, multitask and meet deadlines
- Outstanding organizational, verbal and writing skills
- Independent, self-starting and highly motivated
- Strong patient care and interpersonal skills
- Proven positive, teamwork attitude in work history
