Job Summary
Escort patients to exam rooms, measure and record vital signs, and obtain blood samples per NYULH policy. Clean and stock exam rooms, perform point-of-care testing including EKG and glucose monitoring, and assist physicians with patient intake and EPIC documentation. Manage administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, reviewing in-basket messages, and processing prescription refill requests. Validate patient identifiers, maintain medical records, and ensure infection control standards are met. Prioritize patient experience by greeting warmly, communicating clearly, and escalating clinical concerns to providers or nurses.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or the equivalent
- Completion of a Medical Assistant Program from an accredited institution OR upon hire hold a current medical assistant Certification from a Nationally Recognized accredited institution (such as American Association of Medical Assistant(AAMA); American Medical Technologies (AMT); National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT); National Healthcare Association (NHA))
- Working knowledge of English is evident in verbal, reading and writing abilities
- demonstrated ability in computer skills
- Ability to complete multiple tasks efficiently and thrive in a team work environment which pursues a positive patient care experience
- Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
Desired Qualifications
- MA experience preferred
