Job Summary
Organize and prepare patient summary sheets and charts for the daily clinic, check exam rooms for patient encounters, and restock or clean as necessary. Call patients from the lobby into the exam room, obtain chief complaints and vital signs per provider preference, and document vitals in Eclinical Works. Assist with patient care under the direction of the Nurse Manager while maintaining universal precautions. Perform phlebotomy as needed and uphold strengths-based, gender-affirming, trauma-informed, and harm reduction-aligned care for diverse identities. This role supports medical providers and general clinical activities within Housing Works' Health Services division, which advocates for HIV/AIDS access, operates drug treatment programs, and runs thrift shops and a bookstore.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma
- Medical Assistant certification required (CCMA/CRMA)
- Must be able to provide strengths-based, gender-affirming, trauma informed, low-threshold/ harm reduction-aligned healthcare to patients with diverse identities and lived experiences
- Housing Works requires employees working in our Health Services division to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, unless approved for a legal accommodation
Desired Qualifications
- Health care experience preferred
- Bilingual preferred
- Preference for individuals with experiencing working in a community-based setting, particularly with patients who LGTBQIA+, and/or have experienced homelessness, substance use, and/or mental health challenges
