Job Summary
Greet patients, escort them to exam rooms, and take vital signs while performing allergy prick and intradermal testing, spirometry, and biologic injections as ordered. Administer allergy shots, obtain blood or buccal samples, and monitor patients for adverse reactions. Maintain emergency equipment, prepare supplies, and scribe for providers. Document assessments, care delivery, and progress in the electronic medical record, enter charges, and schedule radiology or lab tests. Verify insurance, follow up on referrals, and manage clinical supply inventory. Handle front office tasks including answering phones, scheduling, and taking payments. Ensure HIPAA compliance, complete required training, and report policy violations. Collaborate with physicians on process improvements and support marketing initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Understanding of OSHA guidelines for ambulatory practices
- Understanding of medical record documentation standards
- Understanding of medical coding based on the medical record notes to ensure accurate billing
- Comfortable using email and interacting with Internet applications
- Knowledge of electronic medical records, practice management and word processing software
- Good communication skills and interaction with physicians
- Neat, professional appearance
Desired Qualifications
- A minimum of one year of experience in a medical practice
- Completion of formal education
- CMA/RMA from an accredited program or ABR-OE
