Job Summary
Room patients for examinations by taking vital signs, recording medical histories, and collecting laboratory specimens. Greet and check in patients upon arrival, verify demographics, process payments, and obtain insurance information and prior authorizations. Answer and direct phone calls to triage urgent matters or redirect to providers. Schedule and manage appointments, including follow-ups, rescheduling, and cancellations. Maintain accurate patient records in the electronic health record system and ensure patient room cleanliness and supply inventory. Ensure patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Full-time Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM. Salary $18.00 to $21.00 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalency
Desired Qualifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, preferred
- Certification as a Medical Assistant, preferred
- 1 year experience as a medical assistant in an ambulatory care setting, preferred
- Proficient in performing clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, updating patient chart information and recording other medical data
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families and healthcare team members
- Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and other healthcare technology
- Critical thinking, time management, strong communication, problem-solving, and ability to handle various clinical situations
