Job Summary
Medical Assistant assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of an urgent care provider, manages check-in and registration, measures vital signs, draws blood for laboratory analysis, prepares treatment rooms, conducts point-of-care testing (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG), and handles front desk duties including insurance documentation and scheduling. Offers onboarding training, competitive pay starting at $17/hour with incentive pay based on performance metrics, and benefits including medical/dental/vision and 401(k) with company match. Requires High School Diploma and BLS at hire; MA certifications (CCMA/CMA/RMA/NCMA/NRCMA) or EMT alternative accepted; CPOE certification required within two weeks of start. Locations include UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care centers in PA/WV with on-site managers and a focus on patient experience.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma required
- Graduate of Medical Assisting Program preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire (ARC or AHA)
- One of CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, NRCMA certifications required at time of hire (or EMT accepted as alternative)
- CPOE certification required within two weeks of start date
- In lieu of MA certification options accepted: Accredited Nursing/LPN/RN may be considered
- Ability to perform front desk duties, vital signs, phlebotomy, and point-of-care testing (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG)
- Experience in medical assisting/front desk roles preferred
