Job Summary
Medical Assistant assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of an urgent care provider; manages patient check-in/registration, interviews patients, records vital signs, collects blood samples for lab analysis, and prepares exam rooms. Performs point-of-care testing (e.g., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG), processes co-pays, schedules appointments, coordinates referrals, maintains medical records, and supports front-desk operations. Requires Basic Life Support and MA certifications (CCMA/CMA/RMA/NCMA/NRCMA) or approved equivalents; CPOE certification within two weeks of start; strong computer skills (Word/Excel) and ability to communicate effectively with diverse patients; onboarding includes training, shadowing, and ongoing development.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of Medical Assisting Program preferred
- BLS certification at time of hire (ARC or AHA)
- One of CCMA/CMA/RMA/NCMA/NRCMA certification at time of hire
- CPOE certification within two weeks of start date
- EMT certification accepted in lieu of MA certification (NREMT) optional per posting
