Job Summary
Medical Assistant for Gastroenterology in the Huntley, IL area. Responsibilities include ensuring efficient patient flow in the clinic, escorting patients to exam rooms, obtaining vital signs, documenting visit reason and allergies, assisting with procedures (ECG, venipuncture, immunizations, specimen collection, CLIA-waived testing), maintaining exam room readiness, inventory management, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards. Supports physicians and nurses, prepares treatment rooms, orders supplies, and communicates effectively with patients and the care team. Requires completing certification within six months of employment, BLS/CPR, high school diploma or GED, and 0-2 years of relevant experience. GI experience preferred, and travel to McHenry clinic as needed for coverage; schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:30am–5:00pm. Full-time position with benefits; equal opportunity employer.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Current certification in CMA (AAMA), AMT (RMA), NCMA (NCCT), CCMA (NHA), or NRCMA (NAHP) with documentation; within first six months, certification must be attained
- American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification
- 0-2 years’ experience in a relevant role
- Strong computer skills
- Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) (preferred)
- Completion of accredited Medical Assistant training program (preferred)
- Ambulatory care experience (1-2 years) (preferred)
- GI/Gastroenterology experience (preferred)
