Job Summary
Ophthalmic Technician/M Medical Assistant role providing frontline clinic support: facilitate patient flow, assist the doctor with preliminary testing, and perform a range of diagnostic eye tests (e.g., dilation, refraction, visual fields, OCT, GDX, IOL master, auto refractor, topography). Maintain accurate EMR documentation, verify patient information, and communicate effectively with patients, doctors, and managers. Ensure rooms and equipment are prepared, stocked, and cleaned; support HIPAA compliance and professional patient interactions, including handling inquiries via phone, email, and in person. Requires strong customer service and a willingness to learn and grow within a clinical ophthalmology setting; anticipated hours include some early/late adjustments and weekend work as needed. Education includes a high school diploma or GED; one year of related experience preferred; COA/COT certification is optional but advantageous.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required
- One year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification is preferred, but not required
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
