Job Summary
Accurately schedule tests, obtain films and reports, and prepare laboratory specimens according to policy. Assist physicians and nurses with special procedures and examinations, while collaborating with the health care team to coordinate patient care plans. Maintain medical records, ensure documentation availability, and process insurance forms and financial records. Perform vital signs, height, weight, and screening procedures, and document all findings in the medical record. Greet patients, handle registration, and answer phones while maintaining orderliness and cleanliness of examination rooms. Stock assigned areas, check equipment logs, and ensure par levels of supplies are maintained. Submit prescriptions and refills electronically, and file, photocopy, and process forms related to medical charts. Requires BLS certification within 14 days and CCMA or NCRMA certification preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
- at least one year as a Medical Assistant
- CCMA or NCRMA certification
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) within 14 days
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department
