Job Summary
Verify patient identity, obtain vital signs, and document medical history before examinations. Assist providers with treatments and minor procedures while performing phlebotomy, EKGs, and specimen collection. Accurately enter patient information into the electronic health record and schedule appointments. Maintain exam rooms, handle patient inquiries, and support front-desk workflows including check-in and co-pay collection. Adhere to infection control standards and participate in quality improvement initiatives. This hourly, full-time role requires BLS certification and proficiency with EHR systems within a fast-paced clinical environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift or move patients and equipment as required for clinical duties
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
- Current Medical Assistant certification or registration (e.g., CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA)
- Previous experience as a medical assistant or in a clinical healthcare setting
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and basic computer applications (e.g., email, scheduling, data entry)
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology, vital signs, and standard clinical procedures
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with HIPAA and all relevant regulations
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification, or ability to obtain prior to start date
