Job Summary
Medical Assistant in pediatric urgent care provides clinical and administrative support to providers, patients, and the office. Responsibilities include greeting/registering patients, obtaining medical history and vital signs, preparing patients for X-rays, performing routine labs (venipuncture, throat and urine cultures), wound irrigation, assisting with quality control testing in the lab, supporting the patient-care team within the scope of practice under physician supervision, maintaining exam rooms and waiting areas, upholding patient confidentiality, handling emergencies, following policies, and delivering exceptional customer service. The role requires strong communication and organizational skills, comfort with computers/medical software, and prior pediatric experience.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Prior pediatric experience
- Knowledge or EKG placement and processing in children
- Ability to obtain laboratory tests via nasal swab, and venipuncture
- Demonstrate a professional and friendly demeanor
- Strong communications and organizational skills
- Comfortable with computers, Microsoft Office Suite
- Willing to learn medical software
- Capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
