Job Summary
Medical Assistant works under a provider’s direction to perform general nursing functions in the Bronson Pulmonary Specialists practice. Responsibilities include recording vital signs and immunizations, obtaining patient history and initial assessment, educating patients and families on medications, treatments and referrals, and documenting information in the patient chart. Requires high school diploma or GED and CMA/CCMA/RMA certification with eligibility to obtain CMA/RMA within 6 months. BLS certification required within 90 days. Demonstrates clinical skills, good problem-solving and prioritization, and excellent interpersonal abilities to interact with patients, doctors, and staff. Proficiency with EMR and the ability to maintain confidentiality in a fast-paced outpatient setting is preferred. This role involves standing/walking, lifting light-weight objects, and assisting with procedures and specimen collection as part of routine patient care.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Successful completion of an accredited medical assistant program
- CMA/CCMA/RMA certification
- Must be eligible to take CMA/RMA within 6 months of hire
- BLS certification within 90 days of hire/transfer
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Confidentiality and patient privacy
- Experience with EMR systems (highly desirable)
