Job Summary
Prepare patients for examination and treatment by taking vital signs, medical history, and documenting information in the electronic medical record (EMR) system. Enter recalls and handle new prescription refills as directed by the physician, while triaging phone calls and conducting physician referrals and service pre-certifications as needed. Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure seamless patient care, maintaining strict adherence to infection control protocols and HIPAA regulations. Maintain patient records and participate in ongoing training to enhance clinical skills. This role supports the daily operations of Florida Digestive Health Specialists, a premier gastroenterology practice dedicated to compassionate patient care and clinical excellence across the state.
Required Qualifications
- 1+ year of experience in a clinical setting, preferably in gastroenterology
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, providers, and team members
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic work environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems and basic computer skills
- The employee is frequently required to walk, sit, use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display terminal
- The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and climb stairs
- The employee should be able to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally
- lift and move up to 25 lbs
- The Medical Assistant must be able to observe safe practice criteria in assisting patients
Desired Qualifications
- Certification of Completion of accredited MA program (CMA or RMA) is preferred
