Medical Assistant - Float (Temporary Contract)

Job Summary

Register patients, collect demographic and insurance information, and process co-pays while managing front desk operations and phone calls. Prepare patients for examinations, obtain and record vital signs, perform point-of-care testing, and conduct venipuncture to prepare laboratory specimens. Document medical histories and test results in the EMR, maintain medical supplies and inventory, and perform opening and closing duties including cash reconciliation. Float between urgent care centers to support clinical and administrative functions, adhering to all safety and compliance policies. Work flexible shifts between 8:00 AM and 10:00 PM, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. This temporary contract assignment offers valuable experience within a leading healthcare organization with potential for future permanent employment.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of Medical Assistant experience
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Ability and willingness to float between assigned centers within the market
  • CPOE (Computerized Provider Order Entry) certification obtained within two (2) weeks of the start date

Desired Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting program
  • Experience in: Urgent Care, Emergency Department, Hospital setting
  • Prior patient registration or front desk experience
  • Three (3) or more years of Medical Assistant experience
  • One (1) or more years of experience in an Urgent Care, Emergency Department, or Hospital setting
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
  • Paramedic
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • Proficiency in Medical Assistant clinical duties
  • Strong phlebotomy and specimen collection skills
  • Experience performing point-of-care testing
  • Strong computer and documentation skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Commitment to exceptional, patient-centered care
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment
