Medical Assistant (Float) - Resource Team

Job Summary

Perform patient intake with accurate electronic health record documentation, conduct vital signs collection, and administer immunizations and injections. Execute phlebotomy, ancillary testing, and specimen collection while maintaining temperature logs, QA processes, and OSHA policies. Assist physicians with gynecologic, surgical, and wound procedures; complete pharmaceutical prior authorizations and Medicare Annual Wellness Visits. Manage exam room setup, cleaning, and stocking, and input lab and radiology orders. Provide phone triage for medication refills and communicate with pharmacies. Work full-time, Monday through Friday, with hourly compensation starting at $15.00 and mileage reimbursement. Join a team supporting over 220 physicians across 85 locations in southeastern Virginia.

Required Qualifications

  • Certified Medical Assistant - Resource Team (Float)
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, CCMA, NRCMA, NCMA, or RMA)
  • Current CPR or BLS certificate
  • Ability to stand and walk for limited periods of time
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to climb or balance for limited periods of time
  • Ability to occasionally reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 30 lbs
  • Ability to grasp and hold up to 25 lbs
  • Ability to hear normal voice level communications in person or through the telephone
  • Ability to speak clearly and understandably
  • Ability to smell
  • Ability to work scheduled hours as defined in the job offer
  • Ability to work in multiple computer systems effectively
  • Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public
  • Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions and follow written protocols
  • Ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of laboratory techniques to perform routine laboratory tests
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing to operate, clean and sterilize
  • Knowledge of appropriate medical terminology to communicate with medical and laboratory staff
  • Skill in operating a variety of laboratory instrumentation and equipment
  • Skill in proper reporting of laboratory tests
  • Skill in communicating clearly with diverse publics
  • Skill in appropriately billing orders collected
