Job Summary
Greet patients in the waiting room, escort them to exam rooms, and prepare them for examinations while taking vital signs. Document chief complaints, medical histories, and immunization records in the electronic medical record, ensuring all pertinent pre-clinic laboratory data is available. Assist physicians with exams, ultrasounds, procedures, and minor surgeries, including suturing, casting, and cryosurgery. Perform phlebotomy, urinalysis, EKGs, diabetic retinopathy testing, and administer injectable medications and immunizations. Maintain clean, sanitized rooms and inventory, assist with phone triage and scheduling, and obtain insurance pre-authorizations.
Required Qualifications
- Completed a recognized medical assistant program
- Must have a high-school diploma and either significant on-the-job experience or certification as a medical assistant
- Must maintain current license, and certification if applicable
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Must be detail-oriented and highly organized
- Must maintain confidentiality at all times
- Must be knowledgeable on medications, disease processes, diets, etc. to effectively educate patients; and properly answer patient's questions
- Strong communication skills must speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarifications; responds well to questions
- Must be able to assist in advancing Grace Health's mission
