Job Summary
Medical Assistant - Float position supporting Oncology Consultants clinics in Houston, TX. Assist physicians with medical procedures in the office, including phlebotomy and laboratory testing, quality control, instrument troubleshooting, and maintenance. Perform blood draws and venipuncture, prepare slides for evaluation, and coordinate outside laboratory testing as dictated by patient insurance. Maintain test/log/QA records, enter data in EMR, obtain vital signs and conduct requested screenings (e.g., PHQ9). Schedule referrals and admissions as directed, ensure compliance with state/federal regulations, and support multiple clinic locations with travel (<25%). Requires strong attention to documentation, accuracy, and ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-site environment; BLS certification, HS diploma/GED, and one year of MA experience with venipuncture are expected. May require traveling between AON locations and occasional overtime; proficiency with MS Office and EMR systems is needed.
Required Qualifications
- Education: High School diploma or GED
- Certification: BLS required
- License: Valid Driver’s License and vehicle for travel to other clinic locations as needed
- Experience: One-year experience as a medical assistant in clinic or physician’s office with venipuncture
