Job Summary
Medical Assistant in Family Medicine clinic provides patient care under clinician supervision, assisting the provider to gather information relevant to the patient’s visit, and communicates clearly with patients via telephone and in-person interactions. The role supports cross-functional teamwork to ensure high-quality outpatient care, with attention to detail and follow-through in a fast-paced ambulatory setting. The position is part of Intermountain Health’s clinical team, offering opportunities for career growth and education support. Typical duties include assisting with patient information gathering, data entry, and ensuring PHI/privacy, while demonstrating strong communication and collaborative skills to support both acute and chronic patient needs.
Required Qualifications
- Proof of completion of a Medical Assistant program OR at least one year of Medical Assistant work experience OR current active and in good standing RN/LPN license to practice nursing in the state of Utah
- Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers, to be obtained prior to start date
- Demonstrated basic computer skills involving word processing and data entry
- Professional manner and strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with patients and fellow caregivers to deliver high-quality care
- Ability to protect privacy, confidentiality, and PHI of patients, members, and caregivers
- Current national MA certification from one of the following national MA certifications or registrations: RMA (AMT), NCMA, CCMA (AAMA), CMA (AAMA)
