Job Summary
Medical Assistant in Family Medicine supports exam prep by obtaining vital signs and gathering/documenting patient information, performs laboratory procedures (e.g., strep test, wound culture) using aseptic technique, assists Physicians/APP with procedures (pelvic exams, allergy scratch testing, EMG, cautery, colposcopy), administers routine medications under orders or standing protocols (including immunizations), follows through with tests and referrals, communicates with the care team to ensure smooth clinic flow, and supports a range of clinical duties (e.g., phlebotomy, EKG, spirometry, Holter monitoring) as directed. Must demonstrate knowledge of growth and development to provide age-appropriate care and maintain professional relationships with patients and staff; ability to perform technical skills within the Medical Assistant scope after demonstrated competency; strong communication and computer skills with familiarity with electronic medical records.
Required Qualifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Current Medical Assistant certification from one of the following is required: CMA from AAMA, CCMA from NHA, NCMA from NCCT, RMA from AMT, RMA from NRMA, NRCMA from NAHP, NRMA from NRMA, NHCWA from NHCWA
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program required
- Experience: 1 year experience preferred
