Medical Assistant Externship Coordinator

Job Summary
Secure and manage a network of externship sites for Medical Assistant students, ensuring diverse placement opportunities. Conduct regular site visits to monitor student performance, address concerns, and maintain strong relationships with externship partners. Achieve and maintain a minimum 40% extern-to-hire conversion rate across assigned sites. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation requirements, including TWC regulations. Collaborate with Career Services and Placement teams to support students' transition from externship to employment. Provide guidance to students regarding attendance, professionalism, and performance expectations during externships. Conduct externship orientations and assist students with resume writing and interview preparation. Maintain accurate documentation, including timecards, evaluations, and affiliation agreements. Track student progress throughout the externship and ensure completion of final evaluations and exit interviews. Promote the externship program through outreach and networking within the medical community.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of practical experience in the medical field
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential
- Phlebotomy Certification
- Patient Care Technician (PCT) Certification
