Job Summary
The Medical Assistant Externship Coordinator develops and oversees the externship program for Medical Assistant students by securing and managing externship sites, ensuring diverse placement opportunities, and monitoring compliance with federal, state, and accreditation requirements. Responsibilities include achieving a minimum extern-to-hire conversion rate of 40% across sites, conducting site visits, guiding student performance and professionalism, providing resume and interview preparation, maintaining accurate documentation (timecards, evaluations, affiliation agreements), tracking student progress, and promoting the program through outreach within the medical community. This role requires mentoring abilities and collaboration with Career Services and Placement teams to support students’ transition from externship to employment.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of practical experience in the medical field.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential required.
- Phlebotomy Certification and Patient Care Technician (PCT) Certification required.
