Job Summary
Assist with clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers, including taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow. Show patients to examination rooms, prepare necessary equipment, interview patients to obtain medical information, and measure vital signs, weight, and height. Perform general office duties such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms while acting as a liaison with other departments. Collect and log laboratory specimens, perform phlebotomy if competent, maintain immunization inventory, and provide immunizations as applicable. Explain treatment procedures and physician instructions to patients while improving departmental quality initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Direct MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years
- Basic Life Support [BLS Certification]
- Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification]
- Associate's Degree Medical Assisting
- 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider
- Two 12-hour shifts and two 8-hour shifts with every other weekend rotation
- 7-day-per-week operation that delivers care days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Weekend/holiday coverage
- Float to other locations for training/precepting purposes or during times of staffing shortages/other extenuating circumstances
- Southampton, Amherst, or Greenfield
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's Degree Medical Assisting preferred
- Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No
- Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] preferred
- Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] preferred
- Direct MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years required
- Provides immunizations (as applicable) which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider
