Job Summary
Conduct patient care and observation duties under provider direction, including taking vital signs, administering medications per policy, performing diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, and drawing blood. Maintain examination rooms, sterilize equipment, and ensure compliance with Universal Precaution guidelines while promoting a supportive environment. Assist in emergency situations as directed and handle administrative tasks such as patient check-in/out, visitor reception, and chart documentation. Order, verify, and store unit supplies while maintaining confidentiality. Complete required orientation, training, and annual skills competency assessments.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic computer skills
- Current AHA BLS certification
- Current certification as one of the following: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from the American Medical Technologists (AMT), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) from the National Healthcareer Association (NHA), or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) from National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
- Must successfully complete all medical assistant orientation and training requirements and annual skills competency
- Must be able to lift 20-50 lbs
- Must be able to carry objects up to 25 lbs
- Must be able to stand and walk occasionally to frequently
- Must be able to sit occasionally
- Must be able to perform close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing)
- Must be able to work in an environment with blood-borne pathogen exposure
- Must be able to work in an environment with bio-hazardous waste
- Must be able to work in an environment with chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors
- Must be able to work in an environment with communicable diseases
- Must be able to work in an environment with electrical shock risk
- Must be able to work in an environment with floor surfaces
- Must be able to work in an environment with hot/cold temperatures
- Must be able to work in an environment with indoor/outdoor conditions
- Must be able to work in an environment with latex
- Must be able to work in an environment with lighting variations
- Must be able to work in an environment with patient care/handling injuries
- Must be able to work in an environment with radiation
- Must be able to work in an environment with shift work
- Must be able to travel if required
- Must be able to use personal protective equipment, including respirators
