Job Summary
Medical Assistant-Diabetes Endocrine Spec: Provide administrative and clinical support in a medical office focused on diabetes/endocrine care. Responsibilities include registering and scheduling patients, maintaining inventories, processing ordering of clinical supplies, administering injections, EKGs, spirometry, and phlebotomy; performing therapeutic treatments as directed; assisting with patient eligibility determination and referrals/preauthorizations; phone screening and patient triage; accurate data entry in the EHR; obtaining and documenting vital signs; and supporting providers and staff to ensure smooth clinic operations. Requires high school diploma or equivalent, at least one year of clerical/billing experience in a medical office, proficiency with medical equipment, and CPR certification; CMA/RMA/AAMA credentials are preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of clerical/billing experience in a medical office setting
- Experience operating multi-line phone systems, fax machines, photocopiers, PCs, credit card machines, glucometers, EKG machines and other medical equipment
- CMA, RMA or AAMA preferred
- Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR certification
