Job Summary
Deliver direct and indirect patient care by collecting healthcare data, performing phlebotomy, administering medications and immunizations, and preparing patients for examinations. Complete patient care treatments, label specimens, and ensure documentation accuracy while adhering to infection control and safety protocols. Perform clerical functions including answering calls, verifying insurance information, entering codes into billing systems, and scheduling procedures. Serve as a resource and mentor to clinical staff, conduct exit counseling, and promote Lean work culture principles. Rotate shifts and standby on-call as needed, with local travel between Independence Health locations.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED or next level of higher education
- Strong leadership ability
- Good organizational skills
- Independent and critical thinking skills
- Sound judgment
- Knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice
- Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, including Outlook and Excel
- Medical Assistant Certification, preferred
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance
- Friends & Family CPR
- Ability to perform the Essential Functions listed on the Physical Conditions and ability to perform the Essential Functions on the Working Condition chart below
- Goggles, face shield and mask are required according to CDC guidelines
- Lift assistance (2 person) and/or transfer device is required when lift requirement is in excess of 50#
