Job Summary
Greets patients, escorts them to exam rooms, and informs them of time delays. Prepares patients for providers, anticipates needs to maintain efficient flow, and performs phlebotomy, laboratory procedures, injections, and immunizations as directed. Ensures exam rooms are clean and stocked, cleans and sterilizes instruments, and assists with procedures, exams, and patient education. Manages referrals and documentation, answers telephones, schedules patients, and obtains written orders from providers. Follows safety protocols regarding sharps, personal protective equipment, and bloodborne pathogens. Works within scope of practice as determined by Washington State Department of Health. Requires completion of accredited training, AAMA/CCMA/NCCT certification within 120 days, CPR/AED certification, and experience with EHR preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of medical assistant training through a post-secondary school or college program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education School (ABHES) or the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)
- Certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistants (CCMA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) within 120 days of hire
- Medical Assistant- Certified credential issued by Washington State Department of Health within 120 days of hire
- Excellent customer service
- Oral and written communications skills
- Compassion for patients
- Ability to work well in team environment
- Ability to multi-task in fast-paced work environment, with ability to anticipate future needs
- Basic computer user skills
- Medical terminology and accurate spelling ability
- CPR/AED certified for a Health Care Provider
- Travel may be required
