Job Summary
Medical Assistant supports physicians and nurse practitioners in examination and treatment, performs patient intake, documents vital signs, maintains and updates the electronic medical record, conducts point-of-care tests as appropriate, manages front-d desk duties when needed, and ensures HIPAA-compliant, patient-centered care. The role emphasizes accurate medical records, empathy in patient interactions, teamwork with providers and staff, and adherence to practice operating procedures. Preferred CMA certification and 1-3 years’ experience in Family Medicine or Pediatrics with EMR experience; BLS certification is required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Graduate of an accredited healthcare program (MA/CNA/LPN/EMT or equivalent) required
- National CMA strongly preferred
- Some MA Experience required
- Current BLS card
- 1-3 years of experience in Family or Pediatrics
- Athenahealth practice management system experience preferred
- EMR experience preferred
- Strong computer skills
- Maintain certifications per state guidelines
