Job Summary
Welcome patients, verify medical histories, and document vital signs while populating electronic medical records with allergies, medications, and social history. Assist providers during examinations by performing point-of-care tests, maintain supplies, and disinfect treatment rooms to ensure a safe environment. Manage pre-visit planning, check voicemails and inbox messages, and back up front office duties including scheduling and phone answering. Maintain logs for refrigerator temperatures and emergency medications, conduct business respectfully with all patients and colleagues, and adhere to HIPAA guidelines. Requires current BLS certification, EMR experience, and 1-3 years in family or pediatrics.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be a graduate of an accredited healthcare program, i.e. Medical Assistant, CNA, LPN, EMT or equivalent work experience
- Maintain certifications per state guidelines
- Some MA Experience
- Current BLS card
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to communicate appropriately with awareness of surroundings and audience
- Ability to complete individual assigned tasks as well as completing the tasks for the success of the clinic
- Works well with people and can display empathy appropriately
- Ability to actively listen and respond appropriately
- Accurately maintains medical records for patients and provider
- Ability to stand
- Ability to use hands to handle, or feel
- Ability to reach with hands and arms
- Ability to talk or hear

Desired Qualifications
- Nationally recognized as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
- 1-3 years of experience in Family or Pediatrics
- Athenahealth practice management system
- EMR experience
- English major
