Job Summary
Conduct patient examinations and treatments under physician direction by preparing rooms, measuring vital signs, and administering injections. Perform clinical procedures including EKGs, venipuncture, urinalysis, and point-of-care tests while maintaining accurate electronic medical records. Manage treatment room inventory, sterilize instruments, and coordinate patient referrals and diagnostic studies. Facilitate patient flow, answer phones, and perform general cleaning duties to ensure a safe environment. Maintain current CPR certification and adhere to standing orders for vaccines and preventive services.
Required Qualifications
- Certificate of Medical Assisting from an accredited college or technical school
- at least three months related experience (e.g., health care setting, customer service, etc.) and/or training
- equivalent combination of education and experience
- current BCLS/CPR certification
- Must have superior patient service attitude and skills
- Meets dress code standards
- appearance is neat and clean
- Personal hygiene and grooming meet appropriate standards for a medical office
- Completes annual educational requirements
- Maintains regulatory requirements
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times and understands HIPAA rules
- Never inappropriately accesses confidential patient information
- Observes OSHA and Cal-OSHA workplace safety rules
- Familiar with the practice's Illness & Injury Prevention Program (IIPP)
- Reports to work on time and as scheduled

- Wears identification while on duty

- Attends staff meetings
- Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community
- Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices
- Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the office
- Per the Monterey County Health requirements, you must be vaccinated or mask during the flu season
