Job Summary
Prepare patient visits by reviewing and updating records, checking test results, and ensuring exam rooms are clean and stocked per infection control protocols. Greets patients, directs them to appropriate rooms, and performs initial screenings including vitals and medical history documentation. Alerts providers when patients are ready and assists during examinations as requested. Restocks shelves, trays, and supplies to maintain orderly areas while utilizing time efficiently. Requires valid Texas Driver's License, insurance, and ability to travel. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Certification reimbursement available for new hires.
Required Qualifications
- High school Graduate (or GED)
- Valid Texas Driver's License
- ability to travel as required to perform duties
- Working knowledge of 'Universal Precautions'
- Thoroughly understand the importance of confidentiality and non-disclosure according to the general standards set forth by HIPAA
- Current, valid CPR certification
Desired Qualifications
- Current, valid Certification of Medical Assistant
- Bilingual English/Spanish and other languages
- Excellent communication skills at the level necessary for taking patients' medical histories, understanding provider and supervisor's instructions, and accurately documenting patients' medical information
- Ability to effectively communicate with patient population and staff while demonstrating a high degree of diplomacy and tact
- Beginner to intermediate computing and phone skills
- Demonstrates flexibility regarding job duties and assignments
- Willingness to cross-train within other departments within your scope of duties
- Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a high-stress and fast-moving environment
- Culturally sensitive and demonstrated ability and effectiveness working with ethnically diverse populations
