Job Summary

Conduct comprehensive patient care by setting up medical equipment, administering injections and vaccines, performing blood draws, and collecting specimens. Interview patients to obtain medical histories, measure vital signs, and process lab requests while communicating results. Assist in routine medical procedures, manage patient paperwork including referrals and prior authorizations, and respond to phone calls. Travel to patient homes as needed for home visits and specimen processing. Maintain a clean work area, ensure patient confidentiality, and document efficiently in the EHR.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program
  • Active Ohio Driver's License
  • Must demonstrate a proficient driving record and up to date auto insurance
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and other external parties in a courteous and friendly manner
  • Proficient phlebotomy skills, both venipuncture and fingerstick
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures
  • Ability to communicate clearly and document efficiently in EHR
  • Knowledge in vaccine administration, storage, handling and documentation
  • Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of patient care and examination procedures
  • Knowledge of using medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
  • Skill in assisting in a variety of treatments and medications, as directed
  • Skill in taking vital signs
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public
  • Customer service skills; social perceptiveness and service oriented
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • Hybrid - will travel to patient homes as needed

Desired Qualifications

  • MA certification
  • Strong Phlebotomy or customer service skills
