Job Summary

Room patients, obtain vital signs, and document medical history while updating electronic records. Assist providers during visits and procedures, prepare examination rooms, and coordinate referrals and prior authorizations. Administer injections and medications within scope of practice, educate patients on treatment plans, and ensure HIPAA compliance. Requires minimum three years of recent medical facility experience, current CPR certification, and relevant immunizations. Competitive pay, paid time off, and health benefits provided.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
  • medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution
  • community college course in medical assisting
  • Minimum three (3) years of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant
  • documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office
  • Electrocardiogram (EKG) current experience
  • vital signs current experience
  • venipuncture current experience
  • capillary current experience
  • injection current experience
  • current CPR certification
  • current health records with the appropriate immunizations to work in the health care field (hepatitis B and tuberculosis)
  • Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures
  • Ability to project a pleasant and professional image
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks

Desired Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant certification
  • Previous experience in pain management, orthopedics, neurology, or a specialty practice
  • Experience with EMR systems
  • Team-oriented with a positive, professional attitude
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Knowledge of health care field and medical office protocols/procedures
  • Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to particular medical practice
  • Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families
  • Skill in performing medical assistance tasks appropriately
  • Skill in tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions
  • Skill in understanding patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families
  • Appropriate certificate indicating passing grade for specific specialty if working in specialty department
