Job Summary
Greet and escort patients to exam rooms, obtain medical histories, medications, allergies, and chief complaints, and document all information in patient records. Assist with patient flow, prepare for visits, and support physicians in conducting medical exams and office procedures under direct supervision. Perform applicable medical procedures including collecting laboratory specimens, administering injections, and performing venipuncture as allowed by state regulations. Communicate instructions to patients, assist with scheduling tests and follow-up appointments, and triage messages from patients, referring physicians, and pharmacies. Maintain clean exam rooms, stock medical supplies, and ensure instruments are sterilized.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma from an accredited program for Medical Assistants
- Must have the ability to follow universal precautions, OSHA standards and HIPAA regulations
- Strong verbal and written skills
- Superior customer service skills
- High level of professionalism
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
Desired Qualifications
- Certification as a Medical Assistant
- CPR/BLS certification
- 1+ years in an office-based setting
