Job Summary

Conduct patient intake by recording medical history, vital signs, and medication details while managing wait times. Assist providers with physical exams, sigmoidoscopies, and bandings, and administer breath tests. Coordinate lab and radiology orders, track procedure reports, and follow up on Hepatitis C patient results. Manage EMR documentation, inventory, and biohazard waste collection while maintaining exam room cleanliness. Schedule procedures and consultations, and handle patient calls as needed. Requires BLS certification and gastroenterology nursing expertise; full-time, 8-hour shift Monday through Friday with occasional travel.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Graduate
  • Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant experience
  • Demonstrates clinical expertise in gastroenterology nursing
  • Current BLS certification
  • Participation in ongoing continuing education
  • Ability to deal compassionately, professionally, and courteously with patients, their families
  • Full range of body motion, including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination
  • Extensive periods of standing or walking
  • Bending, lifting, and carrying
  • Normal color perception and corrected visual acuity and hearing to normal range
  • Involvement with management, providers, staff, and patients and their families
  • Must be authorized to work in the US for any employer

Desired Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year previous office experience preferred
  • Medical Assistant and/or Nursing Assistant Certification (May be required depending on the location)
