Job Summary
Medical Assistant at Prisma Health Urgent Care in Clemson, SC. Responsibilities include patient preparation, triage, vital signs, documenting patient history in EMR, collecting routine lab specimens, administering medications and injections (including IM, subcutaneous, and intradermal), starting IVs, placing catheters, and performing basic clinical and laboratory procedures. Supports Occupational Medicine services (drug screening, breath alcohol testing, audiograms, pulmonary function testing) while adhering to HIPAA/OSHA. Performs administrative duties, ensures quality assurance, and may travel to other Prisma Health Urgent Care locations as required. Requires certification/registration as a Medical Assistant and 1+ year healthcare experience preferred; EPIC/EMR experience preferred. Must be flexible to 12-hour shifts, weekends, and holidays; strong teamwork and patient-care orientation emphasized.
Required Qualifications
- Certification: Must be certified or registered as a Medical Assistant through an accredited organization (e.g., AMT for RMA/NHA or AAMA for CMA)
- Experience: 1+ year of healthcare experience preferred (urgent care or ER a plus); willing to train outstanding new graduates
- Skills: Proficiency in venipuncture, injections, and clinical procedures
- Technical Skills: Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) software, EPIC preferred
- Flexibility: Ability to work 12-hour shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Team Player: A positive, proactive approach to patient care and collaboration
