Job Summary
Enter patient intake and provider orders into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), record vital signs, and collect patient information while facilitating patient flow. Complies with HIPAA rules, infection control standards, and OSHA safety protocols. Assists patients with forms, verifies medical history, and prepares requisitions as instructed by the provider. Draws up injections, labels specimens, and processes them for shipping. Maintains examination rooms, sterilizes instruments, and ensures clinical areas are stocked with supplies. Obtains prior authorizations and fits patients for durable medical equipment. Works a flexible schedule with up to 100% travel requirement.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, or equivalent
- Must have knowledge of Internet and Microsoft Office software (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook)
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, including exceptional customer service
- Must have a working knowledge of the healthcare field and medical specialty, as well as medical terminology
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule
- Must be able to respond with patience and understanding during stressful conditions related to patient health and emergent situations
- Must be able to multi-task and prioritize
- Must demonstrate extreme attention to detail
- Must possess strong organization skills
- Must be able to problem solve and use reasoning
- Must be able to meet predefined quality standards
- Must maintain and project a professional attitude and appearance at all time
- Must have a working knowledge of the healthcare field and medical specialty, as well as medical terminology
- Must have reliable transportation
- Travel for this position may be required up to 100%
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of a Nurse Aide, Medical Assistant, or EMS training program, with a current Nurse Aide certification OR a Medical Assistant certification OR EMS Licensure
- One (1) year of prior experience working in a medical practice
- One (1) year of prior experience working with an Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
