Job Summary
Enter patient intake and provider orders into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), request medical records, and utilize the Pharmacy Database Monitoring Program as directed. Record vital signs and medical history, verify patient information by interviewing patients, and facilitate patient flow while maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA rules. Assist patients with medical forms, instruct them on simple procedures, and dispense appropriate educational materials. Prepare and maintain examination rooms, sterilize instruments, and manage stock of medicines and supplies. Draw up injections, obtain prior-authorizations for radiology and prescriptions, and process specimens for shipping. Monitor personal and provider staff task buckets in the EMR and act as a backup for Ancillary Medical Assistants. Work a flexible schedule with reliable transportation required, earning $17.50/hr to $20.00/hr.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, or equivalent
- Must have knowledge of Internet and Microsoft Office software (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook)
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, including exceptional customer service
- Must have a working knowledge of the healthcare field and medical specialty, as well as medical terminology
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule
- Must be able to respond with patience and understanding during stressful conditions related to patient health and emergent situations
- Must be able to multi-task and prioritize
- Must demonstrate extreme attention to detail
- Must possess strong organization skills
- Must be able to problem solve and use reasoning
- Must be able to meet predefined quality standards
- Must maintain and project a professional attitude and appearance at all time
- Must have reliable transportation
- Travel for this position may be required up to 100%
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of a Nurse Aide, Medical Assistant, or EMS training program, with a current Nurse Aide certification OR a Medical Assistant certification OR EMS Licensure
- One (1) year of prior experience working in a medical practice
- One (1) year of prior experience working with an Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
