Job Summary
Medical Assistant in Otolaryngology at West Penn (Allegheny Health Network). Provides patient-care coordination under supervision, rooms patients, records vitals and patient history, screens tobacco and medications, may assist depression screening, completes annual wellness screenings, documents in EHR, orders age-appropriate screenings and medications per AHN protocols, performs back-office testing, assists with examinations and procedures, may serve as a scribe, follows HIPAA and privacy policies, ensures inventory and sterilization, may travel between physician office locations, and may perform clerical duties. Requires CPR certification and background clearances; certification within 120 days if not already certified; preferred associate degree. Office is located in Pittsburgh, PA, with potential travel between locations.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum High School / GED or Completion of a Medical Assistant Program
- CPR – American Heart Association
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- Certification Requirements: Employees who have graduated from a medical assistant program within five years OR proof of one year of work experience as a medical assistant in the last three years must complete certification training and/or attempt testing within 30 days of hire and must obtain certification within 120 days of hire. Accepted Medical Assistant Certification (NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA)
