Job Summary
Medical Assistant - Certified in Neurosciences provides basic clinical care using established standards. Responsibilities include collecting patient assessment data (height, weight, vital signs, chief complaints, medications), preparing patients for provider evaluation, assisting during exams and procedures, maintaining clean exam/treatment and lab spaces, obtaining specimens, assisting with labs and diagnostic tests (EKGs, audiograms, vision testing, spirometry), assisting with referrals and pre-authorizations as directed, greeting patients, managing check-in/check-out, scheduling, and using electronic medical records. Requires MA certification and BLS-HCP, with duties performed under licensed staff and in a patient-care setting in Roanoke, VA.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association (e.g., AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NHA)
- Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP
- Experience: none
- Ability to use electronic medical records and computer systems
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills
