Job Summary
Gathers patient data through interviews and observation while assisting physicians and Advanced Practice Providers during examinations and procedures. Supports patient preparation, manages scheduling and specialty testing referrals, and processes incoming and outgoing calls using clinical judgment. Documents treatments, procedures, and patient education per department policies and enters medication and diagnostic orders into the electronic medical system. Adheres to infection control standards and participates in quality assurance activities. This role supports the Orlando Health ambulatory care team at rotating locations in Land O' Lakes and Zephyrhills.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school
- Verifiable applicable work experience in a patient care setting
- Current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider Certification
- Current certification by one of the following agencies within 6 months of hire: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by National Health career Association (NHA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) by the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), Nationally Registered Certified Medi...
