Job Summary

Conduct rooming processes, prepare exam rooms, and set up for provider visits while anticipating patient needs. Accurately obtain health histories, administer medications and injections, and perform point-of-care testing under provider direction. Coordinate daily care for ED and discharge patients, schedule appointments and referrals, and process medical reports via Epic, fax, or mail. Maintain strict HIPAA compliance, restock medical supplies, and perform monthly inventory checks. Assist patients by phone, train new clinical staff, and document all patient care activities. Work varying shifts in a multi-specialty setting, prioritizing tasks in high-stress environments while remaining calm and adaptable.

Required Qualifications

  • Must receive certification (CMA or equivalent from one of the following: AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT) within 15 months of hire
  • AHA CPR certification required by end of month from 60 days of hire and maintained
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality of patient information
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Must be able to prioritize work demands and organize time efficiently
  • Must be able to work in multi-specialty settings
  • Must have the ability to work within time constraints
  • Must be able to remain calm under stress
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to follow instructions and accept direction
  • Must be able to work with medical providers, patients, family members and other co-workers
  • Must be able to demonstrate compliance with HIPAA, patient safety standards, Sky Lakes policies, and procedures
  • Must be able to process and respond to results, reports, and requests in an accurate and timely manner
  • Must be able to restock, and maintain examination rooms, medical supplies, medications, and vaccines, including performing monthly outdate checks and maintaining PAR levels
  • Must be able to schedule patient appointments, procedures, examinations, and referrals as directed
  • Must be able to assist patients by phone under provider supervision
  • Must be able to provide a warm, caring, and supportive environment for patients, families, and staff
  • Must be able to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in response to patient, provider, and coworker needs
  • Must be able to train and orient new clinical staff to the department
  • Must be able to maintain competency in all assigned responsibilities
  • Required 1 year of MA experience and 3 months certification preparation time
