Job Summary
Provide basic technical clinical and clerical support in delivering quality patient care as directed by licensed staff or physicians. Collect patient assessment data including vital signs, height, weight, and current medications; prepare patients for provider evaluation, obtain specimens, and assist during exams. Perform diagnostic tests such as EKGs, audiograms, and vision testing, while collecting and preparing blood and urine samples for reference labs. Maintain work areas and sterilize reusable equipment, and document patient information, treatment procedures, and test results in electronic medical records. Administer oral and parenteral medications under direct physician supervision after completing orientation competency validation. Assist with referral authorizations and pre-authorization for testing and ancillary services.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association such as the American Association of Medical Assistants, the American Medical Technologists, the National Association of Healthcare Professions, the American Registry of Medical Assistants, or the National Healthcare Association
- AHA BLS-HCP
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills
- Effective computer skills required for automated systems, including electronic medical records
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
