Job Summary
Under direction of the Office Manager or Clinical Coordinator, perform a variety of medical assisting duties within assigned Medical Office(s) and support Southcoast Physicians Group. Provide patient care and procedures under the supervision of primary care providers or nurses, while facilitating efficient patient flow and managing telephone communications regarding test results, surgery schedules, and follow-up. Utilize Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software to update and access patient information, ensuring privacy and confidentiality. Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality, and may provide medical interpretation in a language other than English. Work a 40-hour schedule with day/evening shifts Monday through Friday, rotating weekends and holidays. Requires AMCA, AAMA, or equivalent certification within 13 months of hire, plus BLS certification.
Required Qualifications
- Equal to completion of four years of high school or equivalent plus specialized courses and training
- National third-party certification, such as AMCA, AAMA, AMT, CCMA (NHA certification), or NCMA (NCCT certification)
- Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program, or equivalent medical office practice experience
- BLS certification
- Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired
- Every other weekend, every other holiday
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience in using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and/or health-related computer software
- One (1) year of medical assistance work experience
- Fluent in a language other than English and Medical Interpreting
- Other certifications, based on practice specialty
