Job Summary
Under direction of the Office Manager or Clinical Coordinator, perform a variety of medical assisting duties within Southcoast Physicians Group clinics. Provide patient care and procedures under the supervision of primary care providers, facilitate efficient patient flow, and handle telephone communications regarding test results and surgery schedules. Utilize Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software to update patient information while maintaining confidentiality. Work day shifts between 7:45am and 5:30pm for 40 hours. National third-party certification is required within thirteen months of hire, along with BLS certification and fluency in a language other than English.
Required Qualifications
- Equal to completion of four years of high school or equivalent plus specialized courses and training
- National third-party certification, such as AMCA, AAMA, AMT, CCMA (NHA certification), or NCMA (NCCT certification)
- Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program, or equivalent medical office practice experience
- BLS certification
- Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired
- Customer service
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience in using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and/or health-related computer software
- One (1) year of medical assistance work experience
- Fluent in a language other than English and Medical Interpreting
- Other certifications, based on practice specialty
