Job Summary
Under direction of the Office Manager or Clinical Coordinator, perform medical assisting duties within Southcoast Physicians Group, including assisting providers with patient care and procedures. Facilitate efficient patient flow, manage telephone communications regarding test results and surgery schedules, and update Electronic Medical Records while maintaining strict patient privacy. Provide medical interpretation in a language other than English as needed. This role requires AMCA, AAMA, or NCMA certification within thirteen months, BLS certification, and fluency in a second language is preferred. Located in OBGYN in New Bedford, MA, with a day shift schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Equal to completion of four years of high school or equivalent plus specialized courses and training
- National third-party certification, such as AMCA, AAMA, AMT, CCMA (NHA certification), or NCMA (NCCT certification)
- Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program, or equivalent medical office practice experience
- BLS certification
- Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience in using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and/or health-related computer software
- One (1) year of medical assistance work experience
- Fluent in a language other than English and Medical Interpreting
- Other certifications, based on practice specialty
