Job Summary
Welcome members upon arrival, navigate check-in processes, and schedule appointments while coordinating referrals for the multi-disciplinary care team. Update electronic medical records, request medical records, and upload documentation. Conduct patient intakes by measuring vital signs, recording medical history, performing examinations, and routine screenings. Critically listen during appointments to report changing conditions to physicians and specialists. Answer incoming calls, process patient messages, and relay pertinent information to the physician. Perform first aid procedures such as changing dressings, applying bandages, and removing sutures under physician supervision. Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and maintain accurate, legal documentation.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent education (GED)
- Graduation from a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program OR comparable healthcare vocational training (i.e., foreign-trained physician, paramedic, etc.)
- A minimum of 1 year work experience as a Medical Assistant preferred, but not required
- 6+ months phlebotomy experience is highly desired
- BLS for Healthcare Providers
- EClinicalWorks or similar EMR experience
- Fluency in - languages spoken by our people in the communities we serve (where necessary)
Desired Qualifications
- A minimum of 1 year work experience as a Medical Assistant preferred, but not required
- 6+ months phlebotomy experience is highly desired
- Experience working with geriatric patients is a plus
- Must possess a high degree of emotional intelligence and integrity, driven and focused work ethic
- Self-starter with the ability to think creatively and work effectively
- Ability to work effectively with various seniorities and diverse populations including staff, providers, members, family members, insurance carriers, vendors and market leadership
- Strong communicator that is customer-oriented
- Excellent critical reasoning, decision-making, and problem-solving skills to analyze situations, determine risks, and find solutions to prevent future issues and resolve recurring defects
- Experience with claims/quality reports and analytical software packages
- Proficient PC Skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to maintain professionalism and flexibility in a changing work environment
