Job Summary
Medical Assistant in Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery providing direct and indirect patient care, assisting with lab tests, treatments, and immunizations under supervision; performs clerical and data-entry tasks, schedules procedures, verifies patient demographics/insurance, codes diagnoses for billing, ensures infection control and patient safety, prepares patients for examinations, and supports staff with quality-control and Lean initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED or next level of higher education
- Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice
- Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, including Outlook and Excel
- Medical Assistant Certification, preferred.
