Job Summary
Welcome patients, document vital signs, and populate electronic medical records with accurate patient histories and quality tabs. Assist providers during examinations by performing point-of-care tests and maintaining clean, safe treatment rooms. Manage pre-visit planning, address inbox messages, and handle front-office tasks like appointment scheduling and phone triage when needed. Maintain logs for emergency medications and supplies while ensuring compliance with HIPAA guidelines and state regulations. Requires a current BLS card, CMA certification, and EMR experience. Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be a graduate of an accredited healthcare program, i.e. Medical Assistant, CNA, LPN, EMT or equivalent work experience
- Maintain certifications per state guidelines
- Some MA Experience
- Current BLS card
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to communicate appropriately with awareness of surroundings and audience
- Ability to complete individual assigned tasks as well as completing the tasks for the success of the clinic
- Works well with people and can display empathy appropriately
- Ability to actively listen and respond appropriately
- Accurately maintains medical records for patients and provider
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
- Ability to lift and/or move more than 25 pounds occasionally
- Close vision
- Distance vision
- Ability to adjust focus
Desired Qualifications
- Nationally recognized as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
- 1-3 years of experience in Family or Pediatrics
- Athenahealth practice management system
- EMR experience
- English major
